Why Your Time Matters
Volunteering with FAN is a unique opportunity to create an incredible impact behind the scenes. As part of our mission, our volunteers focus on fundraising and friendraising – the vital work that ensures families and schools have the resources they need to thrive. While you won’t work directly with families or inside schools, your contributions are the foundation of everything we do. This unseen glory empowers our programs to succeed, bringing life-changing support to those who need it most. Together, we can make a difference that resonates far beyond what meets the eye.
Find the Perfect Opportunity for You
Open Your Home, Grow Our Impact
We’d love your help spreading the word about our mission. Would you consider hosting a small gathering with your friends or family to introduce them to FAN? You choose the date and the vibe. We’ll provide a team member to share our story, brochures, materials, and swag to make it easy. It's a simple way to make a big impact.

Table Captain
Can you fill a table of 8 with folks willing to give $300 or more? You’d make a great Table Captain! Starting in January, you’ll get all the event details for the March FANraiser. You’ll be responsible for inviting your guests and encouraging them to make a donation during the one-hour program.

Tabling at Festivals
Pride and Juneteenth are just two examples of festivals where FAN hosts a booth. Let kids and families spin the prize wheel, hand out stickers and swag, and let folks know we're here to support their students' basic needs.

Year-End-Thank-You (YETY)
Twice a year, we gather to handwrite personalized thank-you notes for our most loyal donors, showing them just how much their support means. With good penmanship, a positive spirit, and a room full of laughter, this project becomes a fun, rewarding way to connect with others while making a heartfelt impact!

School Supply Sorting
Just before the school year begins, we gather at the FAN offices to sort all the incoming school supplies from all our partners who have collected them throughout the summer. If you love to organize, this event is for you! Join us for a whirlwind couple of hours in late August to get all the pencils and calculators ready to go out the door.”

Fundraising
Do you know at least ten businesses who are just waiting to sponsor a good cause? We have annual fundraising events in Bend and Redmond that give great exposure for our supporters. By joining a committee, you’ll give input on the event planning process at our monthly meetings (Sept - Mar for Redmond, Sept - May for Bend) and then work the room on the big day!

Annual Giving Letter
Every October, we gather to hand-address, stuff, stamp, and seal envelopes for our Annual Giving Letter, which offers donors the chance to make a year-end gift often matched by a generous donor. With good penmanship, a lively atmosphere, and plenty of laughter, this is a wonderful way to make a big impact while connecting with fellow volunteers.

Have questions? We’ve got answers.
Can I volunteer to be a FAN Advocate/to work with families and children?
We get this question all the time.
FAN Advocates, our folks who work directly with students, are all paid professionals. Because they work inside the schools, we don’t allow volunteers inside due to privacy concerns.
Do you offer internships?
At this time FAN is unable to offer internships. We wish you luck on your search.
Can I sign up to volunteer on a regular basis?
Because our opportunities for volunteering center around events, we don’t have ongoing or regular volunteer openings.
Join Us and Be the Change!

When you volunteer with FAN, you make a difference in the lives of students all over Central Oregon. Whatever your skillset – great penmanship, spreading the word, making phone calls, or bagging groceries – your contribution matters!
Sign up today to be the change you wish to see in the world.
We look forward to meeting you!
